Episode 2: Football, grime music and being English in East 18

Londoners aren't always good at getting to know their neighbours. Sometimes it feels like even the city's suburbs are trying to avoid eye contact.

So in this episode we head out to East London to meet the neighbours. Freddie Cocker, James Lamb and Dan Agnew; three lads in their mid-20s who grew up in the London postcode of East 18. All three of them have been mates since high school and Freddie and James have known each other since they were toddlers.

We met in an industrial estate in South Woodford to talk about everything from football tribalism to Grime music, from mushy peas to the north-south divide and the future of English identity. There’s a legendary fish and chip shop in this episode, and a quality East London bakery where God himself goes to eat!
